There is beauty and truth in aging (drift woods somewhere in Batan Beach)

(download)
In a barrio adjacent to the town of Batan Aklan, there is a beach. Some calls it Borabocay. I leave it to you to find it and discover why it sounds like boracay.

My friend the parrochial vicar, Fr. Charles Isagan, together with a a Korean seminarian, and after visiting our seminarians from SNS seminary brought us to many chapels and one of which is near the beach. To make a dip was tempting and I succumb to it. The beach is receding due perhaps to global warning. Some trees drowned by the other beaches somewhere in the island or neighboring island. Tossed by the winds they were dragged offshore. Tested by the elements, its beauty surfaced and the truth of this wear and tear appeared without a trace of pretence. Graceful and truthful. Strong and beautiful. Not similar to a fragile flower but truthful it its beauty. Without pretenses.

How good it is to grow old gracefully!
